The purpose of the master's thesis is to determine what affects teenage pregnancy, what the consequences are and what the measures to prevent teenage pregnancy are. In my master’s thesis, I focused on various aspects of teenage pregnancy. In the theoretical part of the thesis, I identified the impact of the socioeconomic situation on teenage pregnancy and its consequences, such as unemployment, stigma and school dropout. I also highlighted some factors that are of relative importance in terms of the impact on teenage pregnancy, namely cultural norms, the impact of parents, peers, partners and the media on sexuality and romantic relationships and measures to prevent teenage pregnancy and access to abortion in Europe and Slovenia. I interviewed people who gave birth in their teens and counsellors. I learned that the socioeconomic situation has an impact on the incidence and rate of teenage pregnancy. Parents, peers, partners, and the media, however, only partially influence romantic relationships and sexuality among teenagers. In Slovenia, teenagers have good access to contraception and abortion.
