The diploma thesis discusses germanisms in the dialect of Hrastnik and the surrounding area. The thesis focuses on the analysis of germanisms taken from my grandparants’ conversation in the Hrastnik dialect, which forms the empirical part of the diploma thesis. The theoretical part consists of the description of the Slovene language, dialects, germanisms, history and other factors, that influenced the development of germanisms in the Hrastnik dialect. Germanisms represent a big part of the Hrastnik dialect. In the past, Hrastnik was an industrial town, where many foreigners came to work and thus helped create the Hrastnik dialect.
