In this master thesis, the buckling of a simply supported elastoplastic beam is discussed. Several imperfections, such as the initial curvature, the variable support stiffness and the eccentricity of the load, are taken into account. The displacement states and load-displacement relations are determined using the theory of large displacements. The elastic material model is extended to a bi-linear elastoplastic model. The results are compared with experiments and established methods for the design of load-bearing structures subjected to compressive loads.
