In this thesis, the review of pincer ligands and their complexes with transition metals is presented. At first, there is some basic information about pincer ligands and complexes. Next follows detailed overview of different ways pincer ligands can be prepared. After that, four different ways to synthesize pincer complexes from pincer ligands and transition metals are discussed. Finally, some possible ways of using pincer complexes are described, especially in the catalysis of chemical reactions, and as chemical sensors and switches.
