The thesis deals with the characterization of two-phase flow structures at the gas jet breakup in a liquid cross-flow. A phase detection instrument based on laser light scattering was developed. Tests were performed on the existing test section. An algorithm was designed to identify the bubble formation regime based on the data obtained by the developed instrument. Measurements were carried out at different combinations of air and water flows. Different bubble formation regimes were identified, which were divided into three main regimes: single bubbling, pulse bubbling, and jetting. The results were compared with the high-speed camera analysis.
