Cannabinoids or Phytocannabinoids are organic aromatic molecules found in the Cannabis plant. These organic molecules are interesting for human pharmacology not only as the receptors response to them but also because our body is able to produce endocannabinoids of its own. They have been credited with having positive, beneficial and even healing effects. As the result of these properties, the need for analytical techniques that produce credible and accurate results has developed.
This thesis examines one of the analytical techniques for determinating cannabinoids according to International Council of Harmonisation guidelines (ICH). The High Performance Liquid Chromatography method (HPLC) for the selective determination of cannabinoids enables us to identify and authentically quantify them in a number of different samples. Having a good analytical techinque is crucial in research, development and monitoring the effects of phytocannabinoids on the human body.
