Inspiration for my Master’s Thesis “Design of woman collection with inspiration in Spanish culture of bullfighting” stems from my wish to incorporate high fashion elements into street fashion. On top of that, my aim was to find a connection between the traditional and the modern.
Matador suit is often used in modern culture, costumography, as well as in costume balls around the world, for its authentic and unique appearance. The biggest challenge while designing pieces for this collection was to avoid associating them with that recognizable form.
The goal for my ready-to-wear fall/winter 2019/20 collection was in creating a new way of communication between the rich past and the traditional ways of clothes design. It offers a sense of escapism, maximalism and treats a garment as an antique in this age of fast fashion and hyper-production.
