The basic problems we face, when designing projects, is where and how to get started. It's the same, when it comes to a project about video games. Often, we do not have the sense or knowledge of what it takes to get a project right, we only have our own idea. However, when such a project becomes part of the study process, what to do? In the thesis we take a closer look at the field of video games within computer science. We start by finding out what's going on in the field of video games, what problems we face, how are they presented, and what are the existing solutions that help us understand, design, and get started with making a video game. We briefly outline the problem that 1st cycle university students of Computer and Information Science face, when starting a video game project, and continue with steps to work out a solution to the problem. In the first step, we present a work plan for a simplified video game development cycle. Furthermore, we correctly explain and define the conceptualization process, which belongs to the initial part of the pre-production of the work plan and includes work on the current problem. Based on the process, we create a card game that eliminates the lack of creativity when looking for video game ideas. We produce paper prototypes for both the card game and concept of the idea, which capture the lack of essence of an initial concept document in video games. Based on this, we also produce a digital version of it and conclude our findings.
