For the purpose of the graduation thesis, 54 forest owners were interviewed based on a random systematic sampling in the Ivančna Gorica forest district. The analysis shows that the realization of felling and skidding of wood depends on the socio-economic type of land tenure. Therefore the maximum cut was performed in forests owned by complementary farms (182% of the allowable cut), but the least on fully operational farms (121% of the allowable cut). 31.5% of the owners completed courses in safety at work; most of them completed a course of safe work with a chainsaw. 57.4% of the owners are familiar with the motorized felling but only 29% of the owners would implement it in their forests. By increasing forest estates the willingness to use motorized felling increases in privately owned forests as well. In the second part of the thesis the forests in the phase of a pole stand or older life stages were excluded, due to the following influencing factors: share of coniferous trees in growing stock is greater than 70%, the steepness of the terrain not more than 30% and not more than 50% of rocky terrain. According to the stability factors, economic factors and minimum management site surface of 8 ha, 246.8 ha or 9.5% of the forests are suitable for motorized felling. This means that in 29% of the willingness of the owners to use motorized cutting in the forest district of Ivančna Gorica, only 73.1 ha or 2.5% of the forest estates could be cut in the motorized way. The solution for the implementation of the motorized felling on a larger scale can be sought in the integration of forest owners and therefore in the likely increase of the concentrations of motorized felling. Furthermore, consequently the costs of moving machinery can be reduced.
