The theme of the thesis is a connection between the learning disorder dyslexia and a potential form of help: expression with creative expressive media. The first part of theoretical introduction describes the concept of learning difficulties, which are classified as general and specific. Dyslexia is a form of specific learning difficulty. Concept of dyslexia is explained and the legislation defining the students with learning difficulties is presented. Creative therapy, i. e. helping with creative expressive media, is defined. Creative expressive media include art, drama, dance and music therapy. In the empirical part a social work project of helping a student with learning difficulties is presented as a case study I have carried out. The aim of the project was to explore the contribution of creative expressive media in the process of helping a student with diagnosed dyslexia. The project was successful as the student learned to use art, i. e. artistic expression, as a resource that helped her as a resource in learning.
