Most of the readers read at home the most frequently. Reading habits reveal where people read and keep their books, how reading is included in the everyday domestic life and how it is intertwined with other media practices. Reading is an activity, which is not normally perceived as a physical practice or a practice dependent on its physical environment, but modern studies outline the significance of different body positions when reading, the required characteristics of the reading place, the weather, the mood etc. In ten interviews and reading journals, I studied the factors that are usually neglected when investigating reading (time, place, posture, circumstances, presence of others, etc.) and examined what is their intended or unintended role in one's reading habits. The acquired results of the study show the inclusion of reading in everyday life, individual reading practices and habits as well as the connection between reading approaches and genre, carrier and place. I determined that the interviewees prefer reading at home lying down and alone in their rooms, they find comfort and peace important when reading, they use modern tools to plan their reading (for example, Goodreads), they rarely talk about books to others and their lifestyle is reflected in their reading habits.
