Synthesized were three different nickel(II) coordination compounds with an anion of benzoic acid. These are [Ni(C7H5O2)(H2O)2](C7H5O2)(H2O) 1, [Ni(C7H5O2)2(C6H6N2O)2(H2O)2] 2 and [Ni(C7H5O2)2(C5H6N2)2] 3. Ethanol and distilled water were used as syntheses’ solvents. Benzoic acid (C7H5O2) was also used binded as anion. Nicotinamide (C6H6N2O) and 2-aminopyridine (C5H6N2) were applied as the additional neutral ligand. The data on these compounds were found in literature and compared to my experimental data on the titled ones. Using X-ray powder diffraction analysis, the identity with the reported compounds were confirmed although the synthetic routes partly differ. Additional confirmation for these data was obtained with the elemental analysis. A presence of the compounds’ ligands was confirmed with the IR spectroscopy. The coordination sphere changes were checked with the UV–Vis spectroscopy. Two unpaired electrons in all the compounds described herein are consistent with the magnetism expectations for the Ni(II) species.
