We live in times of mass production and consumerism, where at every step we are accompanied by advertisements and concealed marketing in all sorts of forms, from small prints to large billboards, on mobile devices and even in the form of packaging. Packaging has long been no longer just product protection, but also a powerful marketing channel that skilfully communicates with users. The more products are on the market, the more packaged they are and, consequently, more waste. In order to be slightly different, we decided to create a multipurpose package for the preparation of bread. The aim was to produce a simple box made of corrugated cardboard, which can be used in several ways, thus reducing waste after use.
The diploma work is divided into two parts. The theoretical part includes some general information about the packaging itself, its function and characteristics, the modern approach to the packaging on the market, and the protection of the environment. The experimental part presents results of testing, which was performed on single-layer corrugated cardboard and a paper bag. We carried out measurements of the basic properties of materials, edge and penetration resistance, bending rigidity and surface absorption. The results of the measurements showed that suitable single-layered corrugated cardboard was selected for the manufacture of packaging. We designed the packaging in Adobe Illustrator, and the graphic design was made in Adobe InDesign.
Packaging as a finished product represents a simple bread baking set, which can later be used for storing recipes or as a bread storage or storage for other bakery products.
