The purpose of this thesis is to quantitatively analyze all three matches played by the Slovenian women's national team at the European Championship in Sweden in 2016.
Through video analysis we examined the game of the Slovenian national team and analyzed the most typical parameters and factors that are important for improving the performance and effectiveness of the game. The data have been obtained from the website of European Handball Federation (EHF) and the European Championship website. Our goal was to determine the effectiveness of the Slovenian women's national team at this European Championship by anaylizing various variables that appear in the attack and defense. The chosen variables are typical for handball and are usually subject of analysis in all major competitions. Tha data have been compared with each other as well as with the data from the previous Women's European Championship and have also been interpreted.
The Slovenian national team is considered to be much more inexperienced compared to its competitors, as far as major competitions are concerned. Nevertheless, the analysis showed that it is not falling far behind some of the more experienced national teams. The analysis also gave us an insight into some of the strengths and weaknesses of our national team's game,. The findings can be used as a means to eliminate the weaknesses and improve the performance and effectiveness of the national team in the future.
