Research has been done in Slovenia regarding the Norian-Rhaetian and Carnian reefs but not the Ladinian. In the vicinity of Dole pri Litiji, inside the tuff sandstone, which interchanges with thin-layered calcarenite, lie numerous blocks of massive limestone. Solenoporacea and rarely colony corals can be seen macroscopically in some of them. Until now, no detailed research has been performed regarding the composition of these limestones. The purpose of this diploma work is to qulitatively and quantitatively determine the composition of the blocks, to determine the biota and the source of the blocks. Altogether 11 different microfacies can be distinguished. The results have shown that the qualitative analysis partially coincides with the qualitative sorting of the thin sections into microfacies. The studied biota shows many similarities with the biota of Lower Carnian limestones from other parts of Slovenia and has much in common with the biota from the San Cassiano formation in the Dolomites of Italy. The fossil association is characteristically shallow water and indicates a reef origin of the blocks. It can be concluded that the olistolith blocks must have been resedimented. The fossil association generally coincides with the Ladinian age.
