The theme of diploma thesis is the preschool teachers' knowledge of first aid procedures for preschool children. In theoretical part of the thesis, I have presented the importance of safety in kindergarten. I described some urgent medical conditions, such as febrile convulsions, anaphylactic reactions, epileptic fits, hypoglycaemia and some types of injuries. First aid procedures are defined for each of these emergency conditions. I briefly described the basic procedure of resuscitation and the usage of automatic defibrillator. I exposed the importance of preschool teacher's competency of first aid procedures in kindergarten. In the empirical part of the thesis, I presented the results of the questionnaires that I had given to preschool teachers. I was interested whether the preschool teachers were familiar with the first aid’s measures and whether they were given education in this field. Furthermore, I wondered whether the knowledge of first aid procedures differs according to frequency of education, workplace and years of service. I have found out that the frequency of education affects first aid knowledge, as well as the workplace and working life of an employee.
