The diploma deals with the analysis of contemporary political theatre and its position in today’s society. I will base my focus on theatre as a form of art that can also serve as a representation of current political and social questions, issues and dilemmas. I will try to define the role of political theatre in today’s social system, its influence, the role of the spectator etc. One of the dimensions of the diploma is dedicated to the importance of the dominant ideology, its role and the way it behaves in art.
The diploma starts with a short introduction of the evolution of political theatre in general and continues analysing the history of Slovenian and Yugoslavian political theatre of the 20th and the 21st century. It continues with the description and analysis of various tactics and manners of political theatre, their effects and influence. The last and crucial part of the diploma focuses on the features of the political theatre written by Croatian theatre director Oliver Frljić.
