The diploma thesis explains, describes, illustrates and defines the psychological characteristics of the tennis game and especially at the time of tennis competitions. During the review of the subject, some topics that fall into the field can be found: the characteristics of the tennis game, psychological preparation for the competition, the psychological characteristics of tennis competitions, tension, concentration and practical examples of psychological training.
The purpose and objectives of the work was to compare the concentration (focus) before and during a tennis match. Among other things, we examined differences in the concentration and gaming performance between the sexes, as well as between the two age categories (membership category and category up to 16). We have observed the response reactions of the tennis players that appeared during the match and the positive and negative emotional differences between winners and losers.
The sample included 24 players. Of these, 14 were male and 10 female. The membership category, as well as the category under 16, included 12 tennis players each. For the purpose of concentration measurements before the game, we used the Concentration Test (TP).
We also recorded all tennis duels for later analysis. With the help of the analysis, we obtained key variables that helped us in the subsequent statistical analysis of the data. We used the IBM SPSS 21 software for statistical data processing. In the results and discussion section, we present the obtained results in a table format.
We found that there were no statistically significant correlations between variables the concentration and the game performance during the match. There were also no statistically significant differences between the sexes in any of the concentration indicators before and during the match. There were statistically significant differences in solving the concentration test before the game between the two age categories, while there were no such differences during the match. Statistically significant correlation was confirmed only between the number of positive emotions and the number of points obtained. In addition it was also found that there were statistically significant differences between the winners and losers of the match and the number of negative emotional reactions.
