Today, we face many security threats, including ethnic conflicts. This often leads to armed conflicts. A renewed outbreak of armed conflict is also possible in Kosovo. Kosovo declared independence in 2008 and established the Kosovo Security Force. Ten years later, they reached a new milestone with the adoption of three key codes and began the transformation of this institution, leading to the establishment of an independent armed force, one of the constituent elements of modern states. The aim of the thesis is to determine the purpose and what changes the transformation of the Kosovo Security Force will bring. The thesis also covers responses from some other important international actors and what security-political implications this process has for the region. In my thesis, I answer the following research question "To what extent has the establishment of the Kosovo Armed Forces affected the stability of Southeast Europe?" Through a combination of different research methods (primary and secondary sources analysis, descriptive method, comparative method and statistical analysis), I found that the transformation of Kosovo Security Force led to an increase in the amount of weapons in the region, partly contributed to the interruption of diplomatic dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia and also contributed helped to a wider rift of international actors regarding Kosovo's future. With the insistence of the Kosovo authorities on the rapid and unconditional establishment of armed forces, the Kosovo authorities and this very institution have partly lost their credibility in the eyes of international actors, but on the other hand it must be understood that having own armed forces is of great symbolic importance to Kosovo.
