The load-bearing structures are made of different structural elements, which are divided into three main groups based on the way they bear loads. Among these, we will focus in more detail on truss members, which can carry only axial loads. The aim of the final thesis is to construct a truss structure of a bridge and to determine the internal axial stresses in it’s bars using the finite element method in the ANSYS Mechanical APDL software environment. The obtained results were verified by manually calculated values using the method of joints. Based on the maximum stresses, the bars were appropriately evaluated. We have shown that the stresses of both the tensile and pressure-laden bars are within permissible limits.
