Horses have been used for sport purposes since long ago, and we put a lot of funds and knowledge into top-notch sport achievements. Breeders of superior horses put a lot of effort into selection, especially into choosing the best stallion, who would, in combination with a mare, bring best possible offspring. It can often happen, that the horses with the best scores are castrated, which mean they can not have offsprings. With the help of cloning, even geldings can be used for breeding purposes. Because of the ethics and legal rights cloning can be used differently, depending on the equestrian sport and horse breed. We want to know how accessible cloning is today and how popular it is in practice. In the B. Sc. Thesis we studied the literature about equine cloning, to see the procedure of cloning, how and when to use the technique, and to describe some results – examples of cloning.
