Our goal was to build a simple gravity pendulum which can fit into a hiking backpack and can measure the altitude at any point. The building process included some manual work with different machines. The program for measuring the pendulum's period, which was built in Python, was recieving data from a microcontroller. The microcontroller was reading an optical sensor for measuring the swing time and two other sensors for measuring atmospheric variables. Because we did not know the exact lenght from the axis of oscillation to the center of mass, we calibrated the pendulum to a known altitude in Ljubjana and determined the altitudes around Slovenia by the change of the period.
