In this bachelor’s thesis I discuss the design process of textile patterns, based on the habits and interests of a target family of five. For this I explored their living culture and considered the cultural, architectural and stylistic background, which the family consistently introduce to their home's interior. Using academic literature, I studied the historic and artistic periods, which stood out the most during research and were the defining aesthetic element of the target family; these are Art Nouveau, Bauhaus, Turkish baths (hammams) and textile art of the Middle East. I also considered the wishes and habits of individual members of the target family, so that they could use the finished collection in their everyday lives; for this I adjusted the purpose, design aspect and material composition of individual textile pieces.
In the first stage of my research I use the research-analytic method, followed by the descriptive method; based on these I composed the theoretical part of the thesis. The core is the empirical part (the design and production of textile pieces), where I express my own vision on how to modify an interior space using particular textile pieces and, as a consequence, enrich the living culture of the family.
As a result of a few months' work I've created a collection of six interior textile pieces, which consists of two large tapestries, a tablecloth, a merino wool blanket and two decorative velvet cushions.
