With the development of new technologies of material joining several questions and problems arise. One of them is the incorporation of mechanical joints into numerical simulations. In our work we focused on the problem of setting up a numerical model for the need of simulations. We looked through potentially useful new technologies, compared them, selected four with the most potential and focused on them later on. We carried out physical tests of the static load capacity of all joints, and set up numerical models for the simulations. We set up optimization method for defining material parameters of bilinear model, for joints elements. Next, we defined a parameter value range and the exact values inside that range from which we defined all possible combinations of those parameters. We used response surface methodology in combination with genetic algorithm. In two steps, we first built a response surface and then used genetic algorithm to find the exact values of material parameters that fully defined a numerical model as the final result.
