Television is a medium which we use in our everyday lives. It's a medium which both informs and provides us a type of relaxation. It connects us and gives us an inside look about outside events in the world. The technological development of television and its digitalization has made itself more accessible to its viewers through different media. Digitalization has influenced the way we are viewing, where we are viewing, and has influenced the whole television experience. As a result, the industry has been forced to adjust what they offer and their programmes to for ever more demanding consumers. These changes have led to a new viewing practice – binge watching. Binge watching is a new phenomenon, especially in Slovenia, where to date, there have been little studies. In this paper I will explore binge watching using focus groups and try to describe their viewing practices and define if they are genre specific. The paper will also describe how viewers decide on which series to watch, when they watch it, for how long, what their motives are, and describe the changes that have occurred in viewing habits.
