Suicide in Islam is strictly forbidden, but through the theoretical analysis of various authors, we see that in certain circumstances it is understood as acceptable or even desirable. This is due to various interpretations of sacred texts and consequently different views on the same issues. It is about religious justification and the justification of acts of violence, with interpretations designed to support their own interests. The key role is played by the concept of Jihad, holy war, which leads to different interpretations and consequential actions in everyday life. Also important is the concept of martyrdom because of different interpretations lead to the point where an individual who has committed suicide, seen as a martyr and not as a suicide.
