This diploma paper is devoted to the exhibition Slosign, which recognizes current searches of local identity amongst the global society, which manifests in contemporary Slovenian design. Over the past decade, we can acknowledge a more frequent interest in folk tradition and national symbolism in the products of contemporary Slovenian designers. With the assistance of the exhibition criteria and guidelines, as well as chosen designers of Slosign, we can give reasons for the occurring trend of the usage of local element in contemporary Slovenian design. One group of designers, which are displayed at Slosign, revive Slovenian cultural heritage, which is preserved mainly in rural areas and in folk art, while the others search for their inspiration in traditional practices and lifestyle in Slovenia. It is a common trend, which is not limited solely to the Slovenian region (and other art forms), however is present around the world as well, which is suggested with the comparison of two different art exhibitions: Slosign and Design Lithuania 2017.
