In the theoretical part of the master's thesis, I present RDA (Resource Description and Access and its foundations and content. The thesis describes RDA and its historical development, goals and principles, the main changes it brings and its implementation. Furthermore, four previous studies on the RDA perceptions, which were conducted in Malaysian, American, Philippine and Turkish libraries, are described. This master’s thesis studies the familiarity of Slovenian cataloguers with the new cataloguing code RDA. The study was conducted with the help of an online questionnaire. The participants in the study are 161 cataloguers from all Slovenian areas, all types of libraries, all ages and various work experience. The aim of the study was to determine if the cataloguers are familiar with the decision of the expert commission that the transition on RDA is the most suitable solution for Slovenia, how well the participants know RDA, what is the situation regarding RDA training and how they would like to experience its implementation. It was found that half of cataloguers do not know what is RDA. The study concluded that the majority of the study participants did not attend any RDA training but is interested in studying and learning more about it. Furthermore, the majority of cataloguers wishes for a gradual implementation of the RDA, combined with training. Results show that cataloguers are not yet ready for an implementation of RDA, therefore it is important that quality training programmes are introduced in Slovenia. The findings of the study are beneficial for better planning of RDA training in the future.
