The topic of educational styles is crucial in social work. As social workers, we are facing different users, like adolescents, parents, families, teachers and other professional workers. I am focusing on the opinion of adolescents on educational styles of their teachers. I think that I can use the opinion/evaluation, provided by adolescents, to help teachers improve their educational styles in the classroom to meet the criteria of students.
In the theoretical introduction, I focus on the period of adolescence and on identity formation. I connect adolescence with school and the later with teachers. Further after I present educational styles and elements, which determine them; namely communication, role, authority, measures and responsibility. Within these elements, I describe each educational style separately: the commanding, consensual and permissive style.
With the help of the empirical part of the Graduation Thesis, I answer the set questions. The main question is which educational styles students like and which they do not. I also want to find out, if teachers are using a combination of educational styles and whether there is a difference between the educational style of a popular and an unpopular teacher.
