Resistance spot welding is in the automotive industry often used for welding body parts as well as hybrid bonding which is lately more and more often in use. We compared resistance spot welded, hybrid and adhesive bonded joints and did a visual inspection, tensile-shear test and metallographic analysis. Optimal welding parameters of sheet metal are welding current of 7.5 kA, welding time 400 ms and welding force of 2.5 kN. Due to poor adhesion, adhesive joints did not achieve the desired strength. Hybrid joints have lower tensile shear strength as welded joints because of adhesive in place where spot weld is made.
