The purpose of the master's thesis was to determine how a change to a healthy lifestyle affects the fertility of overweight women. Additionally, the purpose was to determine how lifestyle change affects the physical abilities, physical characteristics (body weight, body fat, muscle mass, BMI, abdominal girth, hip girth and waist girth), woman's psychological well-being and metabolic factors (systolic and diastolic blood pressure, heart rate, HOMA-IR glucose, insulin, SHBG, free testosterone, FAI index, androstendion and Anti-Müllerian hormone) and regulation of menstrual cycles. The initial and final measurements performed on 13 research subject (31,85±4,34 years and BMI higher than 30 kg/m2) that were included in the 8-week training programme conducted by the student of Faculty of sport as a part of the research. A statistical analysis of the results was performed using a dependent sample t-test, a two-way chi-square test and a Wilcoxon signed-rank test.
The difference between initial and final measurements of physical characteristics were statistically significant. The main finding of the research was: the average body weight decreased for 6,28 kg, the average body fat decreased for 2,55 %, average BMI decreased for 2,17 unit, the average abdominal girth decreased for 6,31 cm, the average waist girth decreased for 9,02 cm and the average hip girth decreased for 6,31 cm. The results of test for physical abilities and some of metabolic factors (free testosterone and glucose) were statistically significantly improved. For some of metabolic factors (HOMA-IR, insulin) we observed decrease value. The regularity of menstrual cycle has improved but it was not statistically significant (p=0,073). The results have shown that a lifestyle change, combined with weight loss, positively influences psychological well-being of overweight women (satisfaction, stress, sleep quality ...).
