In video games for mobile phones, controls are usually implemented through the graphical user interfaces shown on the touch screen displays. In my thesis, I have researched the effect of different interface layouts on the player’s success in the game. I have developed an arcade game Dejavu3x, which has an integrated telemetry system for collecting data about the interface usage and includes a survey about the player’s experience. I have analysed the collected data and have drawn various visualizations, graphs, and heatmaps for all types of interfaces. Based on the gathered results, I have drafted some general suggestions about a quality user interface design in mobile games.
