The master thesis focuses on the evaluation of daylighting in three buildings of architect Savin Sever (1927 – 2003). The chosen buildings are complex Astra and department store Merkur in Ljubljana, which are under cultural heritage protection and the printing facility Soča in Nova Gorica, which is still in function. All of the buildings have large spans of the rooms with big façade windows and roof skylights that enable daylight to penetrate into rooms evenly. Different approaches to evaluation of daylighting regarding the location of buildings are presented in the master thesis. Methods used for the assessment of daylighting on the surface 0.85 m above the ground are daylight factor (DF), variations of daylight autonomy (DA, DAmax in sDA) and annual sunlight exposure (ASE). Analyses of the simulation results are made for individual rooms or floors of the chosen buildings. The results are shown in various charts and false colour maps on the ground plans in models for characteristic spaces. The values of the results are compared to values in two standards which are Daylighting in buildings (prEN17037:2016) and Approved Method: IES Spatial Daylight Autonomy and Annual Sunlight Exposure (IES LM-83-2012). The evaluation of the daylighting in buildings is based on criteria from the standards that differ. In both standards, the amount of daylighting must be achieved on a certain ground area for at least half of the time when daylight is available. An assessment of the daylighting is made for each building.
