The master's thesis discusses bridges that use a stress ribbon as the load bearing structural system. In the first part of the thesis, we describe the characteristics of the load bearing system, the construction process, the influence of static and dynamic loads, the influence of temperature, the influence of time dependent effects and the operation of the load bearing system during the construction and use of the bridge. In the second part of the thesis, we carry out an analysis of the stress ribbon bridge over the Savinja river, near Mozirje, as a part of the Dobrna-Radmirje regional cycle route. In the framework of the analysis, we firstly used the Mathematica software to carry out a comprehensive preliminary analysis, through which we determined the initial material and geometrical characteristics of the load bearing structure, the initial sag of the bearing tendons and the prestressing force. The more detailed analysis of the structure, carried out by the finite element method using the Sofistik software, includes the static and dynamic analysis. More precisely, we have described a calculation model that is extremely complex due to the gradual construction and the changes in the mode of load transfer. In the static analysis, we carried out appropriate controls of stresses for the construction phase, the serviceability limit state and the ultimate limit state, as well as resistance of the cross-sections. In the dynamic analysis, we conducted a seismic analysis, a control of the vibrations caused by the dynamic loading from pedestrians and a control of dynamic wind effects.
