The municipality of Žirovnica is well-known for its rich tradition of beekeeping, they intend to incorporate this heritage into a wider cultural – touristic program, further develop apitourism, increase the recognizability of small towns and villages and upgrade the cultural heritage path with new activities. The master thesis deals with historical overview of beekeeping in the municipality of Žirovnica and propose native and introduced species of honey plants, suitable for planting in public and private areas. The conceptual design of a honey plants park is presented in the second part of the thesis. Spatial analyzes of the area (mental analysis, accessibility analysis, terrain analysis, inventory of the cover) were crucial for determining the ideal location of the honey plants park in the municipality of Žirovnica. Park combines entertainment, education and socializing activities. A conceptual design of a honey plants park was prepared along with detailed planting plans of the entry platform, gartlc – traditional farm garden, planting adjoining the gartlc, planting adjoining the apiary, grain fields and meadow orchard. Park managing proposal was also suggested. The planting of the park is based on the selection of essential honey plant species in our climate, selected on the basis of traditional and modern planting guidelines. The master thesis focuses on the selection of diverse species and color efficient groups of honey plants with emphasized educational value and structural diversity of plant groups.
