The main topic of the following BA thesis is a design of a modular furniture system, suitable for the modern way of living.
The theoretical part consists of the historical analysis of furniture, technical aspects and research of most common materials, where I focus on finding various ways of incorporating textiles into furniture, so it serves different functions.
In the practical part, I choose pieces of furniture to include in the system: stool, bench, shelving unit and two tables. After suitable materials and jointing system are chosen, the design process begins with designing individual parts, that allow furniture to be assembled without any tools and flat-packed for easy transport. The result is presented graphically, with visualizations, technical drawings and a prototype of the stool.
