The master’s thesis presents the organization of work in relation to the quality standard
E-Qalin. The E-Qalin model is a quality standard in homes for the elderly. Flexibility and
readiness for change are key factors for the quality of the institution. In addition to
enabling employees to suggest, co-decision and involvement in changes, the E-Qalin
model also measures their satisfaction. Several homes for the elderly in Europe use the EQalin
model and at the same time it allows comparability between them. Home for the
elderly Šmarje pri Jelšah, which has already obtained two quality certificates E-Qalin, is
presented. A survey on the organization of work and employee satisfaction with the help
of the E-Qalin model has been performed. A quantitative method has been used and it
involved a survey questionnaire and a qualitative method as research tools, where a case
study has been used. The analysis of the obtained data has shown a few findings: the
quality standard E-Qalin affects the organization of work in the provision of services in the
Home of the elderly Šmarje pri Jelšah; co-decision of employees on changes in the
concepts of work depends on the involvement in the E-Qalin model; changes in work
processes increase the satisfaction of employees both at the Home of the elderly Šmarje
pri Jelšah and the Austrian Sene Cura Sozialzentrum Bad St. Leonhard; employees
recognize the positive effects of changes in the organization of work resulting from the
implementation of the E-Qalin model. A single potential institute that chooses E-Qalin for
its quality standard, from this study, recognizes the positive effects of E-Qalin. The
research in this master's thesis gives a contribution to the further development of social
security services for users and confirms the appropriate effect of changes in work
processes by increasing employee satisfaction.
