In this thesis we presented some options for the implementation of the conditional training for handball players in their training during the match season. In this period of time, the handball team plays up to two matches a week, which limits the chance to maintain and improve certain physical abilities. We tried to select the literature from different fields of conditional preparation and combine it with the technical and tactical preparation of the handball team, based on professional studies and our own knowledge. Firstly we focused on the exploration of the game depending on the actual demands of the game on the players in particular positions, knowing that different playing positions lead to different strains throughout the game. In the continuation, we resolved the term physical fitness, described the physical abilities that play a vital part in a handball game and divided the handball season into multiple parts, based on their characteristics. In this dissertation, we focused on the concrete match season. In the main part we prepared a training programme for the Slovenian first league team, which plays matches twice a week and trains seven or eight times a week. We substantiated the programme with descriptions of the individual training sessions and added recommendations regarding the exercises, repetitions, and the number of series. We tried to incorporate these series, repetitions and exercises in the technique and tactics training, which allows the players to be in contact with the ball most of the time and simultaneously maintain or improve their physical abilities in the match season. We offered a few ideas for a training session of a physical ability and how we can combine it with the technical and tactical preparation of the team. We presented some basic ideas for training and based on the determined level of training volume and intensity, coaches can combine different ball games with exercises for improving technical abilities of the players and the playfulness of the entire team.
