We studied distribution, growth and regeneration of black locust in Bela Krajina. We used the data of the Slovenia Forest Service, data on regeneration were additionally recorded. Using the data on forest stand level, the share of black locust in stand volume was calculated and a black locust’s distribution and regeneration maps were produced. The radial and volume increment of black locust trees were calculated using the individual tree data from permanent sample plots; the obtained results were compared to increments of other frequent tree species. Regeneration was analyzed in detail using the regeneration data obtained on randomly selected permanent sample plots. Black locust appears on 6.6 % of forest area in Bela krajina, and it occurs more abundantly along the forest edges outside the larger condense forest areas. The stand volume of black locust represents 3.5 % of the total stand volume. The radial and volume increment of black locust is higher than the increment of most tree species, commonly occurring with black locust in the stands. In the future, further expansion of black locust might be expected, therefore it should be duly taken into account in forest management.
