Sheep are one of the most widespread species of domestic animals, which is why we are familiar with a large number of different breeds. Pramenka is a group of sheep breed with relatively long wool. This group of sheep is resistant and they easily adapt to worse conditions. There are differences between pramenka sheep therefore, they are divided into individual breeds. In the B.Sc. thesis it will be briefly presented different breeds of pramenka sheep in the Balkan Peninsula, since the breeds differ substantially from one another. It is included eight countries: Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Albania, Kosovo and Republic of Northern Macedonia. In examined literature we found 37 different breeds of pramenka sheep that are known in countries mentioned above.
