The main objective of this thesis is to present the problems of the removal of secondary layers from stone cultural heritage objects. The content is divided into two parts.
The first part is theoretical. Its aim is to define and explain specific terms, study different types of secondary layers, the reasons for their formation and the methods of removal.
The second part is practical and it describes the conservation and restoration procedure on the architectural element. First the description of the sacral object is given, followed by the condition survey and the preliminary sampling. The work executed on the stone artefact is described segment by segment; the materials used, final conclusions and assessments are presented.
The thesis concludes with the final evaluation of the work equipped with photographic documentation.
