We are currently in the age of industrial revolution 4.0, where all systems, including
the people themselves, are more and more connected through the internet where large
amounts of data and information are accessible at a moment’s notice. Systems used
for monitoring industrial machinery are therefore gaining popularity and improving the
quality of the products for the end user. The need to monitor machinery in terms of
early fault detection is also appearing, as it prevents congestion on the production line.
Within the scope of this thesis a low-cost monitoring system has been developed based
on the Arduino microcontroller with expansion boards and analysis in the Python
programming environment. Through monitoring of vibration, the system allows us to
determine whether a component’s performance has worsened during operation, before
the aforementioned component fails and disables the operation of the machine or the
entire production line.
