In the final thesis, we designed and fabricated a prototype of the polariscope and all the
necessary elements for the observation of the photoelastic phenomenon in transparent
birefringent materials, all in the framework of the basics of photoelasticity. A colorchanging LED-strip was used for the light source, which allowed us to illuminate the
pattern with multicolour and monochrome light. We also fabricated samples of desired
shapes from epoxy resin which we used as photoelastic material. Research on and
experiments have been made to determine the isochromatic and isoclinic parameters. The
work covers only the basics of photoelasticity and leaves many possibilities for
continuation.
