The application of adhesives in hardware industry has been on a sharp increase. We carried out a comparison of the joints that were welded, glued with two adhesives and a combination of both techniques, depending on the strength properties of the merge. They were used on ABS polymer materials that were 3 and 4 mm thick. The samples were subjected to a tensile-shear stress test. We found that joints glued with suitable adhesive are strength comparable with ultrasonic welded joints. In the case of hybrid joints, we found that it is necessary to apply an adhesive with a sufficiently high temperature stability.
