Today as much as 40% of all energy produced is intended for heating and cooling of residential, non-residential buildings and spaces, therefore strict energy criteria that contribute to more efficient use of energy must be taken into account. The criteria are covered by various standards, among which the key standards for calculating the energy performance of buildings are ISO 13790: 2008 and its renewed version ISO 52016-1: 2017, which include the hourly and monthly method. By comparing both standards, we can justify the use of the new standard, since each building element is calculated separately. Finally with the more detailed analysis of the hourly method, which is increasingly used, the advantages and disadvantages were found in comparison with the monthly method.
