Administrative information systems serve as a core of information administration and online services for universities and faculties. Member faculties of University of Ljubljana use a variety of different software and systems. The number only rises when looking at a whole country. Many of them are relatively outdated and/or user unfriendly, and practically all of them are severely underutilized in terms of user potential and technological possibilities.
This thesis analyzes what led us to this point and what can be done to improve the usability and efficiency of university administrative information systems to a point where they much better serve their users and providers. The subject is analyzed with the help of various design fields (user interface design, user experience design, service design) and several reference cases from abroad.
