In the graduate thesis, we assesed the stand structure of Pekel forest reserve. It's located near Vrbovec village and measures 13,16 ha. In the reserve we established a sample grid of 100 x 100 m, and therefore got 13 permanent sample plots with an area of 5 a. On the plots we measured tree diameter, azimuth and the distance from the tree to our standing point. We assessed the growing stock to be 318,7 ± 56,1 m3/ha, and a high share of dead wood with 37 %. The most common tree species was beech, followed by wych elm, common hornbeam and fir. Beech had the highest share of dead wood, followed by fir and common hornbeam. Despite the fact that many individual branches in the crowns were broken (40 %), the trees of great vitality prevailed.
