The master's thesis deals with environmental improvements of the selected printing company in its processes of offset printing and finishing with the introduction of the ISO 14001:2015 standard.
In the study a feeble response of Slovenian printers to the environmental protection incentives of Slovenian and European legislation was identified. The aim was to promote a greater interest in environmental protection in Slovene printing shops with an example of good practice of introducing environmental improvements in the selected printing company. The identified environmental irregularities of the selected printing company have been corrected in accordance with the current environmental legislation. With the consent of the management, the company started its environmental management in accordance with the international standard ISO 14001. The preparation of relevant documentation, implementation of planned activities, training of management and employees along with the certification followed. After successful certification, the selected company achieved a greater competitive advantage on the market, improved work conditions, reduced operating costs and improved management and employees' opinion on environmental protection. Compliance with the requirements has also increased the level of safety and health of employees in the company. In practical terms, the research helped to identify the tasks of the printing company in the area of environmental protection and how it can contribute to a cleaner environment itself. With this example, the research can be an excellent springboard for companies still hesitating about the decision on the environmental management system.
The present case demonstrates that environmental policy in printing companies is of exceptional significance and that it brings not only environmental benefits, but also benefits for the company.
