Introduction: Male circumcision is one of the oldest and most commonly performed surgical procedures around the world. It's about removing the skin wrinkle - prepuce that covers the head of the penis. Dilemmas and conflicting opinions of researchers about the intervention, appears around the world as well as in Slovenia. Purpose: The purpose of the work is to examine and explore the topic of men's circumcision and to find out which are the most common causes for the intervention. We want to find out what the controversy about the procedure is and explore whether circumcision has proven positive effects on preventing HIV infection and improving sexual satisfaction. In the continuation, we want to obtain opinions and views of the Slovenian population on the topic, through online questionnaires. Methods: The research, was based on a descriptive method with a review of professional and scientific literature, in combination with a quantitative method of research, in the form of online questionnaire. Literature was limited to English and Slovene language and was searched with various search engines. Research instrument, was available for more than two months, on 1KA, mostly contained a closed type of questions. Results: With online questionnaires, we confirmed the research hypothesis that Slovenians mostly agree with the law that stipulates that the circumcision without a medical reason is no longer allowed (70 %). They also find the most acceptable reasons for pruning the medical indication (92 %) and the boy's independent decision to interact at a certain age (86 %). When reviewing the literature, we found that most authors mentioned the positive impact of boy’s circumcision on reducing transmission of sexually transmitted diseases, in particular the transmission of HIV. In the meantime, pruning does not have a significant effect on the pleasure of men during sexual intercourse. Discussion and conclusion: Regardless of the reason for the implementation of the circumcision, it is necessary to inform the individual first about the procedure. In the online survey, the respondents expressed a desire for impartial help from healthcare professionals regarding counseling on the procedure. Further research on knowledge of the topic among medical professionals could be considered as a rationale.
