As part of the thesis and in accord with the Rules on efficient use of energy and the action plan for the
design of a nearly self-sufficient house I will introduce measures regarding a multi-apartment building
in Ljubljana, which was built around the year 1920. Due to the age of the building, a basic reconstruction
of it is needed, as well as an upgrade to the thermal insulation of the building, since the current state of
it is inefficient. There is no accurate data on renovations so far, but I assume that in the last fifty years
there were none, apart from inner renovations. The problems at hand are especially high heating costs
and in general the cost of primary energy consumption. I have handled the task with the computer
programs TOST, TEDI and U-Wert, with which I have conducted an analysis of the existing situation
and got extremely unfavorable results, as has been expected. During the task, I have proposed measures
such as window replacement, installation of adequate thermal insulation on the external walls, ceilings,
internal walls, floor and the roof as well as installing waterproofing in areas where needed or not
protected by it yet. For each of the measures I have carried out an analysis of energy consumption for
heating and compared them to each other. The results showed that it was necessary to take all measures
merely to satisfy the criteria laid down by PURES. I have conducted these analyses by gas-heating
water which distributes heat to the radiators. Furthermore, I have performed more analyses for the two
most meaningful measures with which to meet the proposals requested in the action plan. These are the
installation of a thermal pump and the implementation of a mechanical ventilation mode.
